Four months after their inaugural announcement at Seeds & Chips 2018, Foodforward has officially closed its call for startups to join the accelerator and will begin the next stage of helping up innovators to develop strategies and ideas.
The call for startups officially closed on Sunday 26 August, following a roadshow that brought the team to more than 12 countries, where they met more than 300 startups and over 150 players in the ecosystem.
Applications to become part of the accelerator were received from 41 countries and from all 5 continents, with most coming from Europe and Africa.
The call concentrated on seven principal fields within the food and agtech sector: quality and traceability of food, healthy lifestyle, circular economy, new ingredients, new delivery models, omnichannel, agritech. Each of the categories has been successfully represented by applicants, giving a broad view of the global trends in foodtech innovation.
Foodforward will now enter the selection phase of the seven startups that have been accepted for entry into the acceleration program. During this period, startups will pass through multiple development phases and all Foodforward partners will be lending their expertise and support. The seven startups will be announced by the end of the year.
I’ts now time to thank all of our partners who were involved in this first phase of the program, and to all of the foodtech innovation players we met on our international tour who welcomed Foodforward so enthusiastically.
But most importantly, thanks to all the candidates who applied to be a part of Foodforward!
